Executive Summary

We helped a start-up bring their social networking app vision to life with fast, sleek mobile development built with React Native and React.js for the admin dashboard. The app needed to work seamlessly using intelligent filters across iOS and Android. An intuitive admin dashboard provides full control over user management, growth insights, and metric tracking, while allowing for live user moderation.

Features like smart swiping, profile filtering, real-time messaging, and location-based discovery drive engagement. The MVP went live in just 90 days, and the platform offers a smooth user experience across all devices. This project demonstrates our expertise in transforming ideas into high-impact digital products, delivering a secure, seamless, and scalable digital companionship experience.

Inspiration & Vision

Our client approached us with a broad vision: to create a Social matching tool that prioritizes meaningful matches through a blend of psychology, location data, and user intent to spark real chemistry, designed for the next generation. In this app, users can apply multiple filters, including setting their daily mode, which influences the type of connections they see and who they can potentially match with.

Identifying the Challenge

In a world saturated with always-on social media platforms, users are becoming increasingly overwhelmed by constant notifications, superficial interactions, and the pressure to stay perpetually engaged. There is a growing demand for digital spaces that feel more intentional, time-bound, and emotionally grounded, especially for users seeking meaningful, real-time social interactions without the noise.

Our client envisioned a time-sensitive social networking app that flips the traditional model on its head. Instead of being available 24/7, the app opens a virtual social space only during specific nighttime hours — from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. During this window, users can discover and connect with new people in real time. Once the window closes, the app locks down new connections, encouraging users to shift focus toward nurturing the relationships they’ve already made.

Engineering a Global-Grade Connection App

The goal was to create a sense of urgency, exclusivity— simulating the vibe of late-night conversations and serendipitous connections — while also encouraging healthier usage patterns and deeper interactions.

To achieve this, we were tasked to design and develop a dynamic, real-time application that could seamlessly enforce time-bound access rules, deliver a smooth and intuitive user journey, and maintain high levels of performance, security, and scalability.

• Time-Based Access Control: We had to architect backend logic that dynamically checks system time and restricts certain actions accordingly (e.g., new friend requests).
• Real-Time Infrastructure: Leveraging Web Sockets and serverless backend triggers, we created a responsive platform capable of delivering instant updates on user activity, availability, and connection status..
• Notification Scheduling: To align with the app’s mindful design, we developed custom notification logic that was built to alert users only before or during the active window, avoiding unnecessary daytime pings.
• Data Privacy: Recognizing the personal nature of late-night conversations, we implemented end-to-end encryption for messages and reinforced user data protection across all layers of the app



Technical Infrastructure

To deliver a seamless and scalable experience for both users and administrators, we leveraged a modern, performance-driven tech stack. The mobile application was developed using React Native, styled with Native Wind (Tailwind CSS adapted for React Native), offering a responsive and consistent UI across platforms. The admin panel was built with React.js and Tailwind CSS, enabling fast development and an intuitive interface for managing content and users.

For core functionality, we relied heavily on Firebase services: Realtime Database for enabling real-time chat, Authentication for secure user login, Cloud Messaging for push notifications, and Cloud Functions to manage background jobs and enforce the app’s time-based logic.

Communication services were handled via Twilio for SMS and Amazon SES (Simple Email Service) for sending transactional and system emails. To enhance security, we integrated Cloudflare along with Google Enterprise reCAPTCHA, safeguarding the platform from abuse and bot traffic.

For analytics and monitoring, Google Analytics 4 (GA4) provided detailed user behaviour insights, while Firebase Performance Monitoring SDK tracked mobile performance metrics. Web performance was monitored using Vercel Analytics. During internal testing phases, we used Firebase App Distribution to deliver builds efficiently to testers and stakeholders.

What Makes It Unique

In addition to its unique time-restricted connection window (9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.), the app offers a comprehensive set of features to keep users engaged both during live hours and offline. While users can only form new connections during the active window, they can freely chat with existing matches anytime, fostering continuous interaction.

To encourage activity during offline periods, users can submit inspiring “Good Messages” daily. The admin selects the standout message each night, and the author’s profile receives an **extended boost—lasting over three hours—**during the following live session, significantly increasing their visibility.

The platform also supports premium features like Super Likes, Super Message Requests, Undo Actions, and standard Likes. Flexible subscription plans—available weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annually—unlock enhanced capabilities and greater exposure. Essential social features such as profile customisation, photo uploads, push notifications, and in-app boosts complete the user experience, making the app both engaging and competitive.
